I used to drift
with the changing seasons, and
I saw you there-

While the hourglass
kept its staccato drips- not
long before you showed me
how to dance with the
sacred rhythms that
held my soul.

Patiently, I
watched- as your shadow
intently looked over the
rubble and stained fragments- of
moments left behind by
the present that
never stops.

I felt the
raging breath of
your soul-

Consumed with blaze of
desire so intense- to
recapture the splendor, once
imprinted on the face of
an emblem- now,
faded.

I was there- as
the hourglass counts
the passing
moments.

I have been there-
like the grains of sand
in the hourglass- eternally
drifting with you in every
turning point of the
changing seasons.

NOTE:

“Poetry can be a “means” as well as an art- (reminds me of something that I read about poetry being not practical and useful, which i regard as otherwise. I just can’t recall the exact article..) Admittedly, I have been guilty of using this medium  “selfishly” sometimes- like “sending messages”- by throwing my thoughts to the wind or, like writing a letter to an old friend-  especially when one is in doubt, confused, or troubled- and the communication lines doesn’t seem to be accessible, :-) …there goes my poetic ramblings for today, :-)

  1. Such passionate language! A beautifully expressed poem.

  2. i put
    my hand on dripping sand
    trying to capture everyone
    i close, it passes through
    between my fingers, it flow
the more i hold it so tight
the less stayed on my sight

    i let it drip
i have a bundle, so beautiful
i marvel with it, i got more
even when i turn upside down
so much stayed like a mound
with smile i let it go freely
i understand it’s suppose to be

    i watch
a pyramid before me, i sigh
    sparkling crystals drip by
    a grain drop replaces one
    softly cascading to ground
am still here as sun shines
    over tall, beautiful pines

  3. I like how you write your poems. Your writings are like modern-day Barret-Browning or somethin’. Of course you have a distinct style.

  4. Leafless-
So glad to see you here-
and your words are blessings, :-) . Thank you so very much, :-)

  5. Manong Eugene,

now this is really wise- the wisdom of the sand- of letting go, acceptance- etc…

“with smile i let it go freely
    i understand it’s suppose to be…”
    - hey, you guys give up that easy????, LOL!!!just kidding! :-)

  6. B.R.-
    You made my day, LOL-:-)

Elizabeth Barret-Browning rules my poetic world!(er, along with EE cummings, khalil gibran, byron, etc…:-). To be even associated with her in your mind- that simply blew me away, :-) . But then- my works are light years away from the grandeur of her/their poetic pen(s).. will keep on trying, though- not a bad idea, afterall, LOL!!! Thank you so very much, ;-)

  7. dear lj,
its simply divine, you can make a painting out of words.
    keep them coming

  8. Excellent poem Leofina Jane. Especially loved the line While the hourglass kept its staccato drips…
The poem speaks to me of youth lost, the relentless advance of time.
    Well done.
Hope life finds you well. Take care :-)

  9. Jane, I loved this poem! It has remarkable expressions and imageries which is quite admirable! I also felt like that you were hankering on the past moments and reflecting back on this poem, which have sort of sweet & melancholic feelings! Keep up your good work! ~Dib

  10. Trisha,

thank you my dear, will try, :-) .

  11. Thanks a bunch, dear JD-

“While the hourglass kept its staccato drips…
The poem speaks to me of youth lost, the relentless advance of time..”

Loss time, it is JD, :-) . On my perspective at least,:-0 (as I was writing it)- it illuminated more on the essence of that lost moment- and it was something that was beyond my control- which I think becomes like grains within me that never cease to exist.:-)

  12. Hi Dib! :-)

Nice to see you here, and thank you for that wonderful comment! Appreciate it, :-)

  14. Hey, I just came across your blog a few moments back. The level of imagery and intensity in your poems are stunning. Very heartfelt, very sensitive, this one. Keep writing!

  15. I like your style. Writing in a way that you are speaking to a good friend. Emotions burst out and the words simply melt while pictures drawn distinctively on a canvass that you time.

I agree with Ajey, heartfelt and sensitive.

    • Hi Zorlone,

Welcome to my poetry blog, am thrilled to have you here. :-) I deeply appreciate your comment, and am glad you liked my so-called “art”, :-) .

I remember telling another friend (in one of my emails) that “poems reflects the soul of the writer-poet”. I’ve been scribbling poetry verses for quite sometime now, and the good thing is- I keep on learning about it as I go through the process of “creating and re-creating” collages of life through simple words and limited phrases.

I guess I’ve been exposing the deepest recesses of my soul in my poems- :-) . I guess that contributes to the “character” of the poems I’ve written so far- they’re “art immitating life”- my life, that is lol!

      • Sorry, that was supposed to be

“pictures drawn distinctively on a canvass that ‘is part of’ you time.

I completely agree with you. Poetry is one of my best suits, I think, he he he, and writing them down using different styles, no, make that, using evolving styles, make your poems grow.

One of the reasons why I wanted to blog was to do a little “show and tell.” I will write my poem and hope that people will start reading them.

I will be looking forward to your future posts.

        Z

  16. Now that’s amazing, to encounter another poetry enthusiast- am surely glad, Z :-) . I’ll definitely check on your blog later-

Yes indeed, :-) . That’s one of the many good things about poetry, we can create and re-create these stuff and they’ll be as unique and as different as the last “style”, :-) .

Thanks Z, I do love this “poetry chats”, lol!
